Warning over The Following Sennheiser range: CX300, CX400, PX100, PX200

The issue of counterfeit Sennheiser’s is getting worse. At the moment, I need to clarify a few points before releasing any more information. I wish I can tell you why I’m witting this, but for now, my lips have to be sealed. The only thing I can ask you to do is take serious consideration to the following notes:

1) Visit the Sennheiser site first, to get information on your local authorized dealer, and buy from them.

2) If you buy online, and if the item is below half the retail price, then I would think again before handing over your cash.

3) If you buy from amazon, then buy directly from amazon and no one else (unless you see an authorized dealer advertising in amazon marketplace).

4) When buying the PX100/PX200, if you can’t see a picture of ‘THE BOX’ then think again, unless the seller is an authorized dealer. The PX range should be in their carrying case. If you can’t see the case, or pictures of the box, then they’re fake.

5) the phrase “REPUTABLE DEALER” is no good. Look for an “AUTHORIZED” Sennheiser dealer.

6) If you want the real thing, then pay the price. Don’t cut corners, and then moan when you get ripped off! You might be able to get away with it with other manufacturers, but it’s less likely with a popular brand like Sennheiser.

I can’t impress upon you enough, how serious the problem is. However, if you buy from an authorized dealer, you can buy with 100% confidence. I’m hoping to bring you more on this problem as it is cause for serious concern, more so than I can express at this time. For now the above suggestions should protect you from buying fake Sennheiser’s. Good luck!

Really wondering what the information you can’t disclose is. Any chance of releasing it given its been 4 months since you first posted about it?

Unfortunately no. I have been continuing to try and get hold of the official Sennheiser PR person (UK) but until then the advice above is the best I can do.

Much as I do like Sennheiser products, PERSONALLY, I would steer clear of small and easy to copy stuff, unless you pay full whack from an authorized dealer. But unfortunately, by doing that, there are better alternative for your money!

I bought a pair of CX400 on this site http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/products/Speakers_Headphones_Mics/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=bsd&cs=04&sku=A2099348
and honestly I can barely hear the driven-bass sound T_T
    Do you think they’re fake?

  4. Wow, that’s the Dell website. One would automatically assume that they would be genuine. Can you send me some images of your CX400 earphones please?

The CX400 retail is $89.99 according to Amazon.com, but even amazon themselves, have them at a fair discount. This is a tricky one!

But here are some obvious signs

    1) the silver driver casing edge should be smooth and rounded.
    2) the grove should be off center
    3) the ear bud holder (take the ear buds off) should have a slight angle to them. if they’re square (have a right angle) they’re fake
