Fake ES7 and ESW-9 headphones on the market, possibly even fake ESW-10 headphones as well. It’s not looking good for Audio Technica!

I still can’t believe that an obscure pair of headphones such as the ES7′s are being counterfeited, but they are. Head-fi.org has a new thread looking at how you can defend yourself against fake ES7′s, with many thanks to PieRat and Squirsier. Personally I’d only feel comfortable buying direct from Amazon and not a third party merchant on Amazon, although many people mention reputable merchants from which they bought their ES7′s. I just had this for usd30 and it is not made in japan it looks like the original except that the metal is mirror like and the pouch is leather but with audio technica tab.
It is supposed to be from audio technica hk? I am confused.
For $30 USD? That’s guaranteed to be fake. Right now brand new ATH-ES7 are ATLEAST $120 or more. All ATH-ES7 comes with a soft cloth pouch not leather. I know because I bought my real one from a trusted Hong Kong dealer.
