Got a pair that arrived today for $155.49 shipped from Amazon.com Marketplace Seller “up2mefitness”, who had (limited, but over a few years) 5-star feedback but no other items listed for sale. The headphones were described as “New” and “in original box”, but had been re-packaged as the plastic wood shells are scuffed up and they were not seated in the cardboard backing at all, nor was there any plastic protection like the real ones, which I also have sitting side-by-side from an authorized dealer.
They are exactly the same in all respects as the fakes pictured and described on the French website, generationmp3 forum, with one exeption: the back of both boxes are now multi-lingual, the genuine article used in that review was the Japanese edition.
The seller seems to be saying the right things, didn’t know, will refund promptly, hopefully there will be no problems as I sent them back insured priority with a tracking number for much more than $5.49, hopefully that’s all it will cost me, lesson learned!
The french site gives a lot of good information, but they are wrong in regards to the packaging. There is 2 differant versions of esw9, the Japanese and the export (esw9a). The export version has the multi-lingual information on the back and all the other “fake” package characteristics that are described in the article.
This is going to sound harsh however it has to be said. It’s O.K. when it’s not your money, and it’s not your company. The problem is three fold.
1) Sellers lure people like you, to buy their garbage headphones buy using the name and good reputation of established company.
Now on reflection I’ve had contact tonight from a brand new headphone manufacturer, who wants me to test their new headphones, which I’m willing to do. This company is brand new, has no standing in the headphone world, and so they’re carving a totally new reputation in the market. That isn’t easy, as I well know!
Now if these sellers had any interest or conviction in what they were selling, they wouldn’t need to sell counterfeit headphones. Believe me, this new headphones company will be far more successful, than any counterfeit peddler on ebay, because they will add value to the market place, fakes don’t! That’s what I was trying to get over to lsmart100. Why not sell reputable products that people want. No one needs to sell fake gear. lsmart100 is now doing very well, and he’s going to do better because he now has the backing from fakheadphones.com and all my visitors know that I trust this seller. lsmart100′s success won’t happen over night, but it will come. We both have things in the pipeline.
I set up this site to help people. When you spend your hard earned cash, I want you to get a good, genuine product, not a shoddy imitation of it! That’s what I want for you.
2) Like I said, its easy for you and me to wish away other peoples money. If you came up with a brilliant product, became a millionaire, lived the life, bought the cars, the house and then I came along and took 30% of your profits by using your name to sell cheap rubbish, I assure you, your comments would not be the same as you have made here!
You would set your lawyers on me, maybe you’d get a few heavies to pay me a visit, but you wouldn’t say “as long as the headphones are fully functional, it’s O.K. for you to cheat your way into my profit margin.”
3) The third point is that in my (near) 2 years of running fakheadphones.com I’ve yet to hear any fake that I felt was better than the original. Most of them sounded like the cheap £1.99 headphones you see in the supermarket. They are garbage and i loathe to pay the $10 or so for them! But the problem is bigger than that. You have all these people running around, thinking that this is what Sennheiser or Bose or Audio Technica’s actually sound like.
I did speak to one manufacture that had this very problem. They receive so many complaints about their products. When this company investigates the problem they quickly realized that the customer has bought a counterfeit pair.
So when you are sucessful and I rip your company off, what will you do?

Hello, guys!
So what’s the problem if the headphones are fully functional?
I don’t understand…
Or these fake headphones have different/worse characteristic?
