The creative EP 630 suffers from the usual problem of, popular brand, with a good name and it’s small and easy to replicate. As far as counterfeits go, it’s seems to be on par with the famous Sennheiser CX300 earphones. There are always loads of cheap Creative EP 630 earphones on the market, suspiciously cheap.
Notice on this first ebay link from head-fi.org, how the seller still has a 100% feedback, even though they could be fake.

i got my “ep630″ today it is fake. it came as a J cord. I compared it with my original ep630 and it’s a pretty good replica but it’s still FAKE

Unfortunately someone was given the wrong advice on these (link below). item number: 330210459587 If you compare the pictures with the picture from the creative site http://uk.europe.creative.com the silver ring test, the earphones on ebay don’t pass the test.

Anyway I think you’ve got enough to get on with.
I just unfortunately purchase a fake pair of creative ep 630′s And I can tell ya there are some obvious visual differences.
Ok 1st the fake pair uses standard dual strand headphone wire that has a center length split to each eat bud. The real Pair has a single strand long length wire that splits in unequal lengths for back neck wrap around.
2nd the fake pair uses standard metal gate grill unlike the real pair that uses a black plastic block plate ( I dunno how the sound gets thru )
3rd the fake pair sound is flat washed out high pitch with little bass.
4th the fakes rubber cups feel typical rubber whilst the real ones are very Very soft and thin to the touch.
5th the ear buds housing looks the same but lack the micro indented surtace as the original.
6th lastly I think creative is an American company , not chinese .
